Barry Kramer here…checking in with a few comments about our recent MSA show, the museum industry’s annual meet, greet and educate extravaganza.  As GeoArt By Cynthia Gale’s new VP of Sales and Marketing, this was my first MSA Event. What a great group of professionals. I really enjoyed meeting and spending time with this fun, creative, art driven group. So much creativity under one roof. We left with many new projects for the GeoArt team. Love the NY City subway token project for the Metropolitan Transit Authority!! As for David Howell’s MSA Dance Party, not exactly an “under control” event. Thank God we were in New Orleans, so all appeared perfectly normal!! Looking forward to next year in LA! Quite a night!

On April 4th, the Brooklyn Museum hosted the grand opening of their fabulous new and improved gift store. Museum store gurus extraordinaire, Sallie Stutz and Sylvia Cruz, merchandised the store to perfection, with unique and interesting items everywhere you looked. Cynthia created beautiful, two-tone floral jewelry inspired by the Brooklyn Museum’s permanent William Morris collection. The jewelry in the shop was exceptional and the Cynthia Gale Signature pieces looked stunning in the creative, upscale environment. The museum store’s merchandise was an eclectic mix of distinctive gift items from established companies as well as those made by local, up and coming Brooklyn designers- a very cool concept. It was a great evening full of beautiful smiles and beautiful products- be sure to check it out on your next trip to Brooklyn!

Beijing or bust!  I recently headed for China with our new VP of Sales and Marketing, Barry Kramer, to present GeoArt by Cynthia Gale at the US Pavilion of the Chic show via ENK China- what an interesting and educational experience.  Having produced our jewelry in Bali,Indonesia for the past twenty years, we are no strangers to the Far East.  However, doing a trade show in Beijing was an entirely different reality-check out the photo of our cool New York inspired booth.  There was a great deal of interest in our product and we plan to pursue this new and exciting potential distribution channel.  What struck us about the Chinese was their genuine interest in all things relating to art and history… for those of you who know us well; these two themes run rampant throughout our collections.  I guess given China’s long and rich history, this reaction should not come as a surprise.  GeoArt by Cynthia Gale in Shanghai and Beijing… how cool would that be!

One morning the GeoArt showroom was visited by a LIM College Field Trip class. The coincidental all female class was all smiles as they entered the showroom. They were seemingly all very enthusiastic and intelligent students. Cynthia explained how Geoart by Cynthia Gale all began. She gave the students a development overview of the products. The students toured the showroom and also viewed the current collections that are showcased. This opportunity to connect with the LIM College students was truly enjoyable!

Eden swept into our showroom/gallery last week for our annual GeoArt photo shoot- so frisky at 8:00am!  Check out Eden’s work at www.edenphotographyny.com.  Our first model, the lovely Jennifer, arrived and was immediately ravaged by El-Leo, our talented hair and make-up artist (www.leoeley.com).  When Jennifer was completely beautified, we switched gears and Eden took over- his enthusiasm was infectious!  In every shot, Eden used GeoArt’s hand-carved Indonesian showroom furniture as backdrop-very warm and earthy.  The natural beauty of the wooden pieces for props is, of course, fitting since all of Cynthia’s jewelry is made in Indonesia.

As the shoot progressed, Helene arrived and El Leo went to work for the second time to whip hair and make-up into picture perfect shape.  Once Helene was ready, Eden took advantage of her warm smile and perfect skin to shoot some gorgeous pics of the newest GeoArt collections.

Eden exuded energy and positivity throughout the day.  He brought fantastic vibes to the set and his photographs reflect that boundless energy.  The images definitely capture the upbeat, artistic attitude of the GeoArt by Cynthia Gale brand which only confirms what we already know… that they were cultivated in the Garden of Eden!

On Saturday, December 3, my daughter Isabelle and I made an appearance at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  From the moment we opened our case of jewelry we were surrounded by supportive MFA members and visitors from around the globe.  Of particular interest was the Grasset Collection which I created in conjunction with MFA, Boston-  customers flocked to the collection and many purchased pieces featuring the Grasset rose or columbine motifs.  Grasset was a graphic designer and teacher of Decorative Arts in Paris in the late 19th Century.  He developed influential theories of graphic design, emphasizing a reliance on organic patterns when developing decorating motifs.  We enjoyed sharing Grasset’s story with the customers as well as our visit with Ellen Bragalone, MFA Boston’s Director of Retail Operations and her terrific museum store staff.  Thanks to all of our Boston fans for coming out to support our trunks show-  we look forward to visiting with you again in the near future!

On November 15th, Glenn and I attended the Silver Promotion Service (www.savorsilver.com) cocktail party at the Yale Club.  We nestled among the suits and admired the models working the crowd…  one of which was wearing my City That Never Sleeps Skyline collection, created with the New York Historical Society.  The fabulous Michael Barlerin of SPS was the quintessential host, as always…  we love being a part of this prestigious group!

On November 10th, Glenn and I attended the reopening of the New-York Historical Society Museum and Library on Central Park West-  what a time we had!  I visited with our talented Product Developer, Ione Saroyan, in her spectacular museum store.  Anthony Reyes who works in the store posed in one of his handsome, 19th Century get-ups and Glenn enjoyed a special moment with Abe Lincoln.  After the opening, Glenn and I caught Theresa DeRosa of the New York Times enjoying a drink with her husband at Scaletta’s, a wonderful eatery steps from the New-York Historical Society.  We learned that the couple was celebrating their engagement which took place there several years earlier.  Theresa has been instrumental in placing our City That Never Sleeps jewelry collection in the New York Times where it has been embraced by fashion saavy New Yorkers, young and old.  We thank Theresa for her support of this cool collection which features the NY skyline and was created in conjunction with the Historical Society, based on their collection of Irving Browning photographs.

Last night, GeoArt held a wonderful event for the Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project (AEACP). AEACP is a charity organization that is dedicated to protecting elephants in Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. It was a great way to promote and sell artwork and fashion painted by the elephants to raise funds for elephant conservation. The night consisted of fun, enthusiastic guests eager to help out the Asian elephants-over 100 people in attendance! GeoArt also gave back by selling jewelry and giving a portion of the proceeds from the benefit to ACECP. Find out more about them at www.elephantart.com.

GeoArt by Cynthia Gale has just launched a new collection featuring an assortment of colored freshwater pearls, beaded accent gemstone strands, and S-Hooks with the ArtKnots Collection. ArtKnots is a sophisticated, yet fun way to mix and match pearls creating dozens of different looks for any occasion, and also allowing for the versatility of adding strands from one’s own collection.

The pearls are available in white, chocolate and olive colors, fully knotted with the knots dyed to match the color of the freshwater pearls, creating an elegant look. Both the pearl and gemstone strands are available in 34” and 38” lengths. The beaded accent gemstone strands, feature garnet, white pearl, smoky topaz or peridot, with sterling silver chain links and decorative sterling silver bead accents. For Spring 2012, champagne colored pearl strands will be added to the collection.

What makes ArtKnots spectacular is the six different styles of S-Hooks, which are used to mix and match strands. The decorative elements on the S-Hooks are: a floral pattern, feathers, a nude goddess, filigree with white pearl, double Celtic hearts and a sterling silver and 14K plated two tone quatrefoil.

Each strand comes with a foldout card illustrating the many versatile ways Art Knots can be worn. Styles shown include: the Cascade, Twisted S, Double S Opera, Triple S Opera, and Twisted Knot.

Says Cynthia Gale, “ArtKnots offers the GeoArt customer an opportunity to get creative…what woman doesn’t want to customize her accessories to suit her mood and wardrobe?  Strands of high quality hand-knotted chocolate, white and olive freshwater pearls are wrapped, twisted, knotted and held in place with decorative solid sterling silver S-hooks.  Combined with colorful lengths of delicate semi-precious stones in white pearl, smoky topaz, peridot and garnet, fresh looks and exciting necklace silhouettes result.  With ArtKnots, I like to think about the confident woman of the 1920’s who wore her pearls with chic femininity.  In fact, the new collection will be featured at the Brooklyn Museum’s Youth and Beauty:  Art of the American Twenties exhibit, which opens Thursday, October 27, 2011, in celebration of this pearl loving generation. Visit the exhibit and wrap yourself in luxury with ArtKnots!” Sallie Stutz, Vice Director for Merchandising at the Brooklyn Museum echoes Cynthia when she says, “In preparation for our  upcoming exhibition featuring American Art of the 1920′s, Cynthia made a store visit to teach our staff how to drape, twist and wear the Art Knot collection in the style of the flappers.  Using the S- hooks, she created long draping pearls and strands of faceted beads that are evident in the attire of 1920′s women. It is a perfect assortment to compliment our new exhibition.”

To purchase select styles, visit www.geoartnyc.com under the ‘What’s Ho’ section, call one of the many retail locations which carry GeoArt, as listed on the website, or contact GeoArt directly at info@geoartnyc.com. For inquires regarding this release, call Olga Gonzalez at 888.436.2781.
